Star of the Sea A.C. Cross Country

Boyne AC break Mullingar Harriers 13 year long record!!!!! Boyne a.c. juvenile athletes were out in force on Sunday last at the first event of the local cross country season.
Hosted by Star of The Sea AC, this hugely popular competition always attracts a large competitive field, and has seen Westmeath club, Mullingar Harriers take home the Best Overall Club Shield for the last 13 years. But it proved out of reach on this occasion, as Boyne AC swept the boards with podium places in most events, crowning them worthy winners of the coveted shield.
Getting the day off to a winning start, Chloe Cooney won the girls U9 race, and with Ally Fennell in 10th and Shruti in 13th, the girls took 2nd team.
The u9 boys also placed 2nd team, with Tadhg Forde Dunne in 3rd, Cormac McEvoy in 6th and Luca Mc Loughlin 14th.
The U10 boys took third team, with Lorcan Forde Dunne in 4th followed closely by Alex Robertson in 7th and Rhys Clarke 17th.
Shola Lawrence won her U10 race, with Kate Culhane in 5th.
Eimear Cooney fantastic run to win the U11 girls race, with fine runs also from Isabella Garcia 18th, Alli Garcia 28th and Ella Mc Loughlin 15th.
Shea O’Donnell took a fine 2nd place finish in the u11 boys race, as did Paddy Price in the u12 race, who had a super sprint finish.
Neil Culhane won U13s race in another tight sprint finish.
The U13 girls also took 2nd team, with  Éabha Cosgrove 5th, Méabh Nolan 11th and Saran Meite 13th. As did the U14 girls with Lily Cummins 5th, Anna Faulkner 6th and Caer Ní Gibhne in 7th.
Tadgh Everitt Thompson ran well in his race, while Eva Cummins finished 3rd in the Junior ladies event.
Boyne AC senior runners Sally Clarke (14th female), Joe Carroll and James Rock all took part in the Blackrock AC 4 mile on Saturday last with great runs from all.Boyne AC are presented with the Best Club Shield Boys u9 team
